I know you love scrolling through your Instagram or Facebook feed and seeing all the amazing creative work artists are producing. Social media has become an amazing medium for us working artists to share our work, our process, and our calling with the world. Did you know that the way you react to photos and posts online is actually a way to help support small businesses like mine? All with just a tap of your finger.
Social media is all about sharing and connecting with others. That’s what’s so great about it! It’s about sharing what inspires you, what resonates with you, what challenges you, and what makes you thing. It’s about seeing a photo or reading a quote – or finding a little something sparkly – that makes you think of your friend and wanting to reach out to say – hey! I found this and it made me think of you.
All of your likes, shares and comments add up to create momentum that help others see our posts. Which is a fantastic way to spread the word about a local business that you love.
But theres a deeper, more human aspect to social media. Something that goes beyond WiFi and 3G and follower numbers. It’s about connecting with the human behind the keyboard. I love reading your comments. They fill me with energy. I love your questions. They make me think, help me learn and grow as an artist, business lady and all-round person.

Good: Add my email to your contacts so my letters don’t get marked as spam.
Better: Add my email to your contacts + open and read it! I’ve written it for you. Usually I’ll end with a question and suggestion of where you can answer, like “What comes to mind when you think of the west coast? Tell me on Facebook.” And now you know how those comments help spread my brand to new eyes.
Best: Add my email to your contacts + open and read it + forward your favourite email of mine onto a friend that you think would love it.
Thank you so much. I appreciate you. And so do all of the other working artists and small business owners that you support.
