This Pablo Neruda quote is a of my very best friend’s, and one of mine too. I’ve always felt a westward pull, a need to be close to the sea. I find solace at the beach, where I perch on a rocky outcrop and sketch. It’s where I want to be when life gets tough. It’s where I want to play – on my days off all I want to do is mess around in boats till the sun goes down.
The background photo is one I snapped myself during a ferry crossing between Vancouver Island and the mainland, leaning over the side of the boat, wind whipping my hair, careful not to drop my camera, to capture the green water and engine wash.
